Mahal na mahal kayo ng UNIS! (UNIS loves you very much!)
August 9, 2025, this will be a date to remember for UNIS and their Filipino EverAfters as they filled the New Frontier Theater with cheers and heartfelt moments. The fan concert was a triple celebration: UNIS’ 500 days since debut, an much-awaited return after almost a year, and an early 18th birthday party for Gehlee. From the moment leader Hyeonju called out a loud “Hello, Manila!” followed by their signature “Hello, we are UNIS!”, the energy in the room soared, 10 months since their October 2024 visit.
A much-awaited return
One by one, Elisia, Nana, Yunha, Seowon, Kotoko, Hyeonju, Yoona, and Gehlee greeted fans with smiles and Filipino phrases that melted hearts, “Mabuhay,” “Miss namin kayo,” “Mahal namin kayo.” The crowd’s response was roaring, as if every cheer was saying, “We missed you, too.”
The night’s setlist was a mix of energy and emotion: “SWICY,” “DDANG!”, “From a seed called ‘Hey, what’s up?’”, “Butterfly’s Dream”, and crowd favorites “Dopamine (UNIS ver.)” and *“Poppin’.” At one point, Yunha couldn’t help but laugh and say, “You guys are really singing perfectly, better than UNIS!” Kotoko added in Filipino, “The loud cheers of Philippine EverAfters are giving me so much energy! Ako’y Masaya! (I’m happy!)”
Heart-warming moments
One of the most memorable parts of the fan concert was the fan interaction segment. Lucky EverAfters were invited on stage to play games with each member, ending with a treasured selfie on their phones, a memory they’ll keep forever. Sana all!
The concert continued with “Spring Rain” and “Dream of Girls (UNIS ver.)”, but before moving on, each member took time to speak from their hearts:
- Elisia: “I hope next time we return with more performances and a bigger venue. Mahal na mahal kayo ng UNIS!”
- Nana: “I hope you will stay with us. I love you so much.”
- Yunha: “Thank you for the amazing and happy memories in Manila. I’ll show you a better side next time, so stay tuned.”
- Seowon: “I really had a happy time with you. Thank you for loving UNIS!”
- Kotoko: “I hope this memory will be special for you too. Thank you, mahal kita!”
- Hyeonju: “I was so happy to see our Filipino fans today. You will always have a special place in my heart. Mahal kita!”
- Yoona: “Let’s meet again soon, okay? Thank you so much!”
- Gehlee: “Pinas! My heart is extremely full right now. I missed you so much. Thank you for making my 18th birthday so special. Salamat po at mahal na mahal ko kayo.”
A surprise that moved them to tears
The lights dimmed and a special video from Philippine EverAfters began to play, celebrating both UNIS’ 500-day milestone and their journey so far with EverAfters. The members wiped away tears. The screen lit up with moments from past stages, fan events, and unforgettable smiles, drawing tears from the members as they watched. When the lights came back on, the crowd playfully chanted “Iiyak na ’yan!” (“She’s going to cry!”). Leader Hyeonju, trying to hold back her emotions, laughed and responded with a firm yet sweet “No!” Her lighthearted reaction earned a wave of laughter and applause before the group composed themselves to deliver powerful performances of “SUPERWOMAN” and “Curious”.
Just when everyone thought the emotions had peaked, the sweetest surprise unfolded. Hyeonju reappeared on stage carrying a cake for Gehlee, and the entire theater joined in to sing a heartfelt “Happy Birthday”. As the cheers subsided, Hyeonju turned to the crowd and softly said, “See you sa panaginip” (“See you in my dream”), setting the perfect mood for their tender closing performance of “See You in My Dream.”
The show ended with a photo time and final waves to every corner of the venue. In that moment, it felt like time had flown, just as quickly as the first 500 days of UNIS’ journey.
Manila didn’t just witness a concert; it became part of a shared memory. We celebrated milestones, a birthday, and the promise of more days together. For EverAfters, this night was a reminder that no matter where UNIS goes next, Manila will always be ready to cheer them on, for the next 500 days, and beyond.
